TAQUIRARI
The
Taquirari is the rhythm and dance most characteristic for the
Departments of Santa Cruz, Beni and Pando, which form the so called
Oriente Boliviano.
Although
the dance has been present since the early 19th century, its actual
origins are unknown. It is believed that the name derives from the
moxenian word takirikire which means arrow.
The Taquirari is danced in couples facing each other and holding hands.
It is a vivid and joyful dance with clear indigenous influence
